These Sessions have been offered at Schools,

at a Youth Shelter and
at my private OHANA Studio.
They can be very helpful for Families in Times of Transition and
for Sick Children and Their Families.
Mandala Painting For Children
Mandala painting, as developed by Aloha Yvetta,
is a simple and powerful method to assist children with:
1) Releasing stress and tension
2) Learning about their emotions and how to control them
3) Developing concentration and mindfulness
4) Building character
Three Basic Steps in the Mandala Making Art Process
1. The Children start with bringing their attention to something that bothers
them at the moment. At this stage they use soft pastel which allows the raw
emotions to flow freely on the paper or the canvas.
2. The children are gently asked some questions, based on their painting,to
help them understand and deal with their emotions.
2. Then they are guided to imagine the best possible solution and paint with
acrylic paint on top of the pastel.

CREATIVE PROJECTS FOR CHILDREN
Children are brilliant!
Our role as adults is to have patience, to be still and present, to really see the children,
to follow their imagination, to honor their feelings, to hear what they are saying, to
love them for who they are, and assist them to fully unfold and master their potential.
In these workshops art is used to help children:
1) Express their emotions.
2) Give an artistic form to their imagination.
3) Share their thoughts and ideas.
4) Learn how to manage their emotion.
5) Build their character.
6) Understand how their imagination can be used in a creative and constructive way.
How are the workshops structured?
1) The art forms that we are guiding the children to engage in are:
Theatre Project
Painting Project
Video Project
Photography Project
Dance Project
Music Project
Environmental Project
2) Through a series of exercises we find out what art form is particularly natural to
each child.
3) We teach each child how to express their feelings, thoughts, imagination and ideas
into a creative project.
4) In collaboration with the children we create a showcase format in which all the
projects can be shared.
5) The children share with an audience their art creations.

PARENTS AND CHILDREN
PUPPET MAKING
THE JOY OF LISTENING TO
EACH OTHER
The class is designed to create an environment where children and parents
can carefully listen to each other and act as a team.
This creative collaboration is based on the child’s imagination and
the parent’s performing skill (cutting, gluing, stitching etc.)
From the parent’s point of view it is an excellent way
to spend some time with their attention solely focused on their child.
The parent can learn how to pay attention and listen carefully to their child.
The children benefit by being heard and seen and
by learning patience while their creative ideas take form.
Usually the puppets created together by parents and children remain
a treasured memory of a time of truly being together and collaborating.

ONE ON ONE
ART AND PLAY PROGRAM
WITH SENSITIVE CHILDREN
(often displaying ADD and ADHD)
The intention for these sessions is to help the child to relax
and experience a focused state of mind.
We use different creative activities to facilitate this experience.
Based on child’s natural inclinations and talents
we choose one or more forms of art –
painting; drama; writing; pantomime; dance or photography and
create a piece of art.
Throughout the process of creation
the child is gently guided to express his/her emotions and thoughts.
Then we define an appropriate format
where this piece of art can be shared with an audience.
LET’S MAKE A MOVIE
WITH CHILDREN INVOLVED IN
PREPRODUCTION AND PRODUCTION
In this workshop we create a movie involving the children in every aspect of
a Preproduction and Production Stages of Film Making.
We start with guiding the children to choose a topic close to their hearts,
something that they really care about.
It is an opportunity for the children to voice their opinions and
for the adults and the other children to see and hear them.
Then through series of exercises and rehearsals, they are guided to express their
emotions and their thoughts.
Thus a story line is created.
All the participants work together to create the wardrobe and the make up.
The shoot takes place over a two day period.
The children do not participate in the editing.
Once the movie is completed we gather together
with family and friends to enjoy the screening.
Everyone goes home with a DVD format copy of the film.
6-7 participants
Age 8-13 years old
9 weeks period

TESTIMONIALS:
…..What an amazing workshop! Thank you.
....I hope that your workshops continue to grow. I believe you have a real gift to help people with them.
….Hi Yvetta. It was great working with you and I have learned some much no tonly about myself and my
own emotions but about children's emotion. I have learned how to stay in tune with their emotions and
also giving them the opportunity to express themselves through art/music.
....Jackson has participated in weekly sessions with Yvetta and Margit and at Mind and Body clinic since
January 2009, with much success. The sessions include Art Therapy and Qi Gong with an overall goal of
increasing self awareness (leading to the development and use of self regulation strategies), increased
confidence, increased acceptance of self and improved social interaction skills. Jackson’s issues have
been mainly around volatility, mood swings, and “violent” outbursts. Since attending these sessions,
Jackson has slowly developed not only more control over his outbursts, but a increased level of
confidence and inner peace which has helped manage the source of the rage. As a result, his outbursts
have reduced in both frequency and intensity – a welcome change for him (and for me!). In my opinion,
the key to success of these sessions has been Margit and Yvetta’s extraordinary ability to understand
and relate to our special children. Without this, I do not believe Jackson would have made the progress he
has.
As well, I have the pleasure of participating in one-on-one sessions with both Margit and Yvetta. They
have provided me with many invaluable insights and strategies on how to manage my relationship with
Jackson and myself through this (sometimes) roller coaster ride, to encourage and ensure further
successes. This, to me, has helped out immensely.
I would highly recommend these sessions for any Aspergers, ADHD, LD child who struggles to understand
and fit into it our world. Here, they will fit in. I look forward to Jackson returning in the fall to continue
on this journey of improvement!
....My son has displayed the symptoms of ADHD, and Asperger's Syndrome since he was a beautiful and
happy babe. He was diagnosed at age 4 with ADHD and at age 7 with Aspergers. I have been
experimenting with potential 'solutions' from hearing testing, to giftedness, to food dye/sugar/food
chemical/additives sensitivities, to increased physical activity, in an effort to address his symptoms. I
have reached out to various support groups, such as the Etobicoke Children's Centre and the Geneva
Centre. We have been successful to some degree with our approach to date, I have noticed a considerable
improvement in his overall state of mind and his new-found self-control, since starting the ULA program
5 months ago. His rage episodes are almost non-existent, his ability to express himself verbally (vs
physically) has improved and he is demonstrating more loving behavior towards his mom and his sister
in particular. More importantly he has shown improvement in making friends, being self confident, and
communicating his thoughts and feelings(especially when frustrated , worried or angry) Though his
'focus', organization and sequencing skills still require attention, I consider the improvement shown has
created the foundation for his other traits to be addressed as the next steps in my support for him. From
Mind & Body, we have received massage therapy treatments, nutritional consultation, art therapy and 'xie
gong' therapy, all of which have contributed to the success of his improved state. I recommend Yvetta and
Margit and their leadership in the ULA with their therapy, as well as the massage and nutritional aspects
of the program.
